These seven healthy hair tips hopefully help refute the misconceptions and disprove the myths some associate with proper hair care.

Our glorious hair. It’s shaved, layered, blow dried, permed, heated, straightened, frizzed, dreadlocked and colored. To take care of it we buy hair care products by the bag. On top of that the world is awash in healthy hair tips, myths and misconceptions.

Let’s discuss a few.

Myth #1: If you want shiny hair rinse with cold water.

Truth: Cold water rinsing doesn’t make hair shinier. Sure some may suggest this as one of the healthy hair tips. But as long as you avoid extremely hot water, which is damaging, to wash your hair, it really does not matter how cold the rinse water is.

Myth #2: It’s smart to change hair shampoo regularly.

Truth: This is makes me laugh. Your hair is unable to remember or recognize what shampoo was used on it last. It’s basically just dead cells. So how’s it gonna know what kind of shampoo you’re using? But your hair will respond to shampoos formulated to its specific hair type. So get the right shampoo for your hair type rather than worrying about which one to use next.

Myth #3: Shampoo twice if you want really clean hair.

Truth: Actually over use of shampoos can be damaging to your hair. Unless your hair is extremely oily shampooing once should suffice.

Since everybody has different types of hair so it is obvious that the hair care treatment will also differ. The basic hair care treatment involves shampooing, conditioning and combing so let us discuss on the different types shampoo that are available in the market.
Before purchasing any shampoo it is important that you recognize first the condition and type of your hair and buy the shampoo accordingly. Simply buying any of the shampoo available in the market because it is expensive or because it is of branded company will not help you much and leave you frustrated.

Among the different types of hair let us begin with ‘Normal Hair’ that are easily manageable that does not need frequent shampooing. Instead, you can rinse your hair if you use some heavy hair cosmetics such as hair spray, wax, mousse or you have a lot of out door activities that cause your hair gets in touch with pollution and sunburn. Too much shampooing might damage this type of hair.

If your hair is characterized with dryness, roughness and dullness then your hair can be sorted under ‘Dry’ type. This type of hair requires special attention. Shampoo that contains natural materials such as honey, olive oil, chamomile, almond oil, and other essential oil must be purchased. Drop of moisture level causes dryness in hair so shampoo with moisturizer is recommended. Separate use of conditioner is also recommended for dry and damaged hair to get better result. It is also suggested to avoid frequent using of blow dryer with excessive heat because it will further dry your hair. And even if you use hair styling tools then select a low heat setting. CHI hair styling will be the best option that will enable you to control the temperature.

 

Unless you treat yourself to an olive oil hair treatment. In these economic days you do not need to buy something if it is already in your kitchen cabinet.

‘Greasy Hair’ that is characterized with greasy head skin, bad smell, sticky, peeled off head skin, etc should be rinsed as frequently as three times a week with extra mild shampoo. Beside this cotton soak into lemon water should be applied after bathing followed with scrubbing. Then pause for few minutes and clean it. This will help to decrease the grease rate on the head skin. Since greasy hair also gets easily drenched so it is suggested not to use 2 in 1 shampoo that will cause your hair to drench easily. It is also reminded that apply conditioner with extra precaution so that it does not touch the hair follicle and the head skin. ‘Dandruff’is one of the common and biggest hair problem that is characterize with small pieces of dead skin from scalp which causes itching when in excess. Shampoo containing anti-dandruff active agent like sulfide, zinc phyrithione, cetoconazole, or sulfur to rinse all pieces of peeled skin followed by conditioner.

Special shampoo should be chosen for dyed hair that aims at protecting the color from being fade away and to keep intact the moisture level of your hair. After shampooing wash your hair with warm water to protect the cuticle and apply the special conditioner for dyed hair. Care should be taken that you do not switch off frequently to another shampoo instead maintain consistency but you can change to other suitable shampoo only if your hair requires a change otherwise it is not at all necessary.

Tips to help your hair grow to its maximum length.

If you are looking for ways to grow longer, stronger hair or  stop hair loss  you’ve come to the right place. Forget expensive treatments, there are 5 easy things you can do to improve your hair’s health that won’t cost you a fortune.

One: Take Vitamins

When your mother told you to take your vitamins, she knew what she was talking about. Though genetics play a great part in your ability to grow and maintain a healthy head of hair, taking vitamins and eating a good, nutritionally balanced diet play an essential part in the hair growth process.

There are a multitude of vitamins that can  contribute to healthy hair  and longer hair. You should start your regimen with those most specifically linked to stronger, longer hair.

Biotin

The body needs Biotin to grow cells and maintain blood sugar levels. Along with growing hair, it also grows and strengthens your nails so, taking it has an added bonus for your overall appearance. You should take somewhere between 150 – 300 mcg daily to produce the results you want.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is one of the most essential vitamins to the hair growth process. Aside from this, it fights free radicals which damage cells. Vitamin A, however, should not be overused. Overuse can do more harm to hair than good so, keep it to a daily maximum of 5,000 IU.

Vitamin B12

The great thing about B12 is that you’re probably already getting your fill of this, no supplements needed. B12 is found in chicken, eggs, and meat. Yum, yum. Though you’re probably already getting a good amount of this in your favorite dishes, the recommended amount is 2 mg.

Vitamin C

Two: Stimulate Your Scalp

Separating your hair into sections and moving a brush across in a downward motion across your scalp will be enough to bring your scalp back to life and removes debris collected in your hair follicles. This should be done every other night. Some experts suggest tapping the scalp with a brush type like a boar’s bristle to stimulate the scalp.

Third: Oil Your Scalp

For those with ethnic hair, Olive oil is key to maintaining a healthy scalp.

Even if you don’t have an ethnic hair texture, the hair must have moisture to prevent damage and breakage, but for ethnic hair, which is prone to brittleness, this step is absolutely MANDATORY.

Fourth: Trim Your Ends

We have all seen them, the girls with uneven hair. Some is long, some is short and damaged. Or, the ones with long hair but it’s frizzy and unmanageable. Please don’t be one of these girls.

If you are or to keep from becoming one, get your split ends cut immediately. It is a good habit to get your ends trimmed monthly to prevent split ends and keeping existing split ends from doing major damage to the rest of your hair. When my hair was damaged, the first thing I did was cut my hair into a short bob to even it out and get rid of the damaged ends.

Fifth: Condition Your Hair

When hair gets dry it breaks. That is a fact. The more alcohol-based products you use and the more heat styling you do, the less moisture is retained in the hair. It becomes brittle and damaged and that leads to breakage. If you can’t do without those heat styling products and the only product that tames your hair has alcohol content, the best way to protect your hair with regular use of a conditioner.
