Today it is becoming more and more common for headlice treatments to fail. When this happens, the reoccurring infestation becomes evident within a few weeks after treatment. Persistent head lice infestation can go on for months, and in a few cases, even years. Not only is this an incredible amount of trouble, it can actually be emotionally traumatic for the person who has the headlice infestation, as well as others in the household.
Usually the reason behind a persistent head lice infestation is the direct environment the person is in. It may be that they are being re-infested through household items that were not treated, or someone who they are in close contact with has failed to treat their condition and is still spreading lice.
Another problem that is being seen frequently is that the common shampoo and cream treatments are no longer 100% effective in treating head lice. This is partly due to the fact that the lice are becoming immune to the insecticides in the treatments, so they are no longer killing lice the way they once did.
Persistent head lice infestation can be a big problem. For one thing you can only safely use the medicated treatments so often before they become a health hazard, in addition the emotional stress of having to continually treat all members in your household for headlice will take its toll quickly.
To best fight head lice infestations it is imperative that it be treated properly from the beginning. Treat the hair and carefully remove all the nits from the hair shaft with a specially designed comb
.
Always vacuum the carpet and furniture in your home immediately after treatment, and you will also want to wash all bedding and clothes in hot water. Soak combs, brushes and other hair items in very hot water, or completely discard them and buy the items new.
Aside from these steps, you may want to let all people you, or your family has been in contact with, know that there was a head lice infestation and that they should check to ensure that they do not have them.
This will help to eliminate the possibility that the head lice will be passed back and forth between people who are frequently in each other’s company. If you have children in daycare or school, call and let them know that your child was exposed to head lice. Little Book for Kids To Explain About Head Lice: "There is a louse in the house"
Another very important step is to retreat the hair after a week. This will help to rid the head of any newly hatched lice; in addition, keep checking at least every other day for a reoccurring infestation, even after the second treatment.
Also speak with your healthcare provider about what you can do to eliminate head lice.

Well some of the chemicals we use these days when have our hair permed or coloured can cause damage that can amount to excessive hair loss. Look for early signs of split ends and fragile hair showing changes in texture, such problems can be easily ignored until escalating into longer term problems. It makes us feel good to spend money on the products that we feel will improve our appearance but unfortunately there is sometimes a down side as more often than not constant use of colourings, perms hair straightners can do more damage than good.

Sometimes a bad diet can be the result of hair thinning, a lack of nutrients can make the hair become loosened and fall out much easier than would be the norm. Some nutrients such as essential fatty acids can play a role in improving our skin hair and nails. Essential fatty acids, omegas 3, 6 and 9 are not the fats that we are all warned against as unhealthy eating but those found in oily fish, salmon and mackerel for instance, seeds nuts and olive oil are all able to provide benefits for our hair, skin and nails. Good for healthy hearts too. All of us lose our hair , it is a continual natural replacement cycle, hairs just like skin cells die off and are replaced by new growth. It is when this pattern becomes excessive that we start to become alarmed.
There are other causes and we can discuss more at another time but now I feel maybe rambling on just causes a loss of interest so until my next session…
Oh by the way….. you probably already know but there are products on the market you can buy to help you with this problem that can help clean up the scalp and hair follicles improve blood and oxygen supply and stimulate growth but more about that next time too.
