If  hair loss  is affecting your life, your self confidence or self -esteem for instance what can you do to improve matters? You might well be advised not to merely sit back and think that hereditary traits are responsible and that there is nothing you can do, you can….

In our society often obsessed with the way we look,   losing your hair   can be hard to bear and have a very negative affect on self-confidence and self-esteem.

How can you tell if hair loss is negatively affecting your life?

hair loss in depressionHave you noticed a decrease in your self-esteem since noticing your hair loss?
Do you experience feelings of depression related to losing your hair?
Is your social life suffering as a result of hair loss?
Do you believe that others notice you only because of your loss of hair?
Do you feel unattractive?
Does your hair loss interfere with other areas of your life?

If you are answering yes to some or all of these questions then now might be the right time to be doing something about the problem.

Be aware however, that losing your hair doesn’t always mean you lose your attractiveness, your self-confidence, and social life.

What firstly is the cause and how can you yourself do something about it?

what causes split endsWell some of the chemicals we use these days when have our hair permed or coloured can cause damage that can amount to excessive hair loss. Look for early signs of split ends and fragile hair showing changes in texture, such problems can be easily ignored until escalating into longer term problems. It makes us feel good to spend money on the products that we feel will improve our appearance but unfortunately there is sometimes a down side as more often than not constant use of colourings, perms hair straightners can do more damage than good.

essential fatty acids, olive oil

Sometimes a bad diet can be the result of hair thinning, a lack of nutrients can make the hair become loosened and fall out much easier than would be the norm. Some nutrients such as essential fatty acids can play a role in improving our skin hair and nails. Essential fatty acids, omegas 3, 6 and 9 are not the fats that we are all warned against as unhealthy eating but those found in oily fish, salmon and mackerel for instance, seeds nuts and olive oil are all able to provide benefits for our hair, skin and nails. Good for healthy hearts too. All of us  lose our hair , it is a continual natural replacement cycle, hairs just like skin cells die off and are replaced by new growth. It is when this pattern becomes excessive that we start to become alarmed.

hair loss and diabetesThere are other causes and we can discuss more at another time but now I feel maybe rambling on just causes a loss of interest so until my next session…
Oh by the way….. you probably already know but there are products on the market you can buy to help you with this problem that can help clean up the scalp and hair follicles improve blood and oxygen supply and stimulate growth but more about that next time too.
